Foster Kids Face Tough Times After Age 18
On Wednesday we had the good fortune to have Josh Mendoza who attends the Connected by 25 on-site GED program and Katrina Wingo a youth that works in the Cby25 Office in Tampa highlighted on National Public Radio.
In addition to Wednesdays story on youth aging out, National Public Radio produced an audio slide show on their website. The slideshow titled “Reflections on Aging Out” is a truly moving and inspiring look at the lives of Josh & Katrina. I ask that you take a few minutes to view at the following link: REPORT: FOSTER KIDS FACE TOUGH TIMES AFTER AGE 18
>>
I urge you to take a few minutes to view and hear in their own voice about the reality of youth aging out in Florida. Josh turned 18 just a couple of weeks ago and I think everyone will be “surprised” at how he really feels about leaving foster care… living alone and being afraid of being homeless on the streets.
Thank you for always championing our Florida youth
